Where can I buy Intel's RealSense Camera?

In my last post, I wrote about what Intel’s RealSense Camera is while offering a few observations it makes sense to have in your next computer, tablet, or smartphone.  I asked this question; “Should I buy a computer or smartphone with Intel's RealSense Camera?”  My recommendation is “yes,” but the real question is where? RealSense Camera for Sale Minnesota

At the time of writing this post there is no store, either “super store” or local shop, I could find searching Google for “buy a smartphone with a RealSense camera.”  But, the good news is I did find a list of products (computers, laptops, and notebooks) that carry Intel’s RealSense Camera.  RB’s Computer Service can get one for you.

But, to get one installed on your current smartphone, you will have to patiently wait.  Intel released a “developer kit” for installing a RealSense Camera on current smartphones in January.  But at this time Intel is reporting it is “out of stock.”  See; https://click.intel.com/intelrealsensesmartphone-developer-kit.html.  This suggests the popularity and demand for it.   If you can wait, RB’s Computer Service would be glad to get a kit when they are available and install one on your smartphone.  Also, please remember RB’s Computer Service is recognized as a custom build computer shop.  Any one of our custom in-house built computers can have this useful feature added to it.

Below is a list of products that have Intel’s RealSense Camera installed in them;

  • Asus N441 JQ – A 15” Ultrabook
  • Asus Rog G5771 JM – A 17” gaming laptop
  • Asus X751LD – A 17” everyday notebook
  • HP Envy 15t Touch RealSense – A full-featured laptop

The price for the RealSense Smartphone Developer Kit is $399.  (Devindra Hardawar, Intel's RealSense phone with Project Tango up for pre-order, January 7th, 2016, https://www.engadget.com/2016/01/07/intel-realsense-tango-phone-preorder).  As a result, for some people the advantages of having it in their smartphone many not make sense due to the price.  For others, it could offer a clear ROI (return on investment).
